$110,350 Raised at the Valentine’s Gala

Moncton, February 11, 2025 – The Dumont CHU Foundation’s Valentine’s Gala, presented by the National Bank of Canada, took place last Saturday. Thanks to the 350 guests present, and the evening’s partners and sponsors, the Foundation raised a total of $110,350. This sum will be invested in the purchase of an EEG machine for the Pediatric Clinic at Dumont CHU in Dieppe. Since its inception, the Valentine’s Gala has raised over $1.7 million.

The Vice-President of the Dumont CHU Foundation’s Board of Directors, Chantal Cormier, expressed gratitude for the public’s support, which, year after year, actively contributes to the success of the Foundation’s initiatives.

“It is the unconditional commitment of the community and our partners that allows us to fulfill our mission. The Valentine’s Gala is no exception. The extreme generosity shown by our official presenter, the National Bank of Canada, our partners, sponsors, and participants will enable us to support the Pediatric Clinic and thus contribute to improving healthcare for our New Brunswick youth”, said Ms. Cormier.

For Dr. Michel Sylvain, pediatric neurologist, the Foundation’s commitment to improving care and services at Dumont CHU is essential. “The purchase of an EEG machine for the Pediatric Clinic will not only allow for a precise and much faster diagnosis, but it will also allow the child and their family to receive all medical care related to the neurological problem in the same place, in an environment perfectly adapted to pediatric patients.”

Dr. Sylvain explains: “The ‘electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test that records the electrical activity produced by the brain. This allows us to confirm a diagnosis of’ epilepsy and monitor its ‘evolution, as well as the response to treatment. Epilepsy is very common in children, and any delay in diagnosis can compromise brain development and maturation.’

For the CEO of the Dumont CHU Foundation, Gilles Allain, the evening was a great success. “We projected a profit of $100,000. I am extremely proud to have exceeded the goal with a total of $110,350. I want to sincerely thank all our partners, sponsors, and guests for their generosity and kindness towards improving healthcare for our young patients”, concluded Mr. Allain.

Save the date for February 14 for the 2026 Gala!
