A donation of nearly $167,000 to support kidney care at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC

The CHU Dumont Foundation is pleased to announce a generous gift of securities valued at $166,487.02 from Dr. Al Prescott and his wife, Debbie Prescott. This donation will support the Nephrology Department at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre.

Dr. Prescott practised as a family physician for 44 years and held hospital privileges at The Moncton Hospital. Together with his wife, Debbie, he has chosen to continue his commitment to the health and well-being of the community through a meaningful philanthropic gift. Their donation will leave a lasting legacy for generations of patients to come.

The funds will help strengthen the care, education and support available to people living with kidney failure, particularly those who are able to receive treatment at home. They will support the development of resources for patients who choose peritoneal dialysis or home hemodialysis, as well as for their loved ones, to help ensure treatment is safe, tailored and centred on their needs.

“Above all, this donation will help us strengthen home hemodialysis so that more patients can receive their treatment safely and independently. The funds will also help create transition units dedicated to patient education and purchase dialysis treatment chairs. The generosity of Dr. and Mrs. Prescott will have a meaningful and lasting impact on the experience of kidney care patients,” said Karelle Guignard, Senior Director – Kidney Health Learning Client Program at Vitalité Health Network.
