Moncton, September 14, 2021 – The Drive, organized by the CHU Dumont Foundation, was very successful again this year. The $100,000 raised during the 7th edition of the activity will be used for projects in the new surgical suite at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC.
Nadine Martin, Executive Director of the CHU Dumont Foundation is proud of her team and the partners of the Foundation who got together and successfully organized this important fundraiser for the Dumont UHC. "Once again, participants answered our call and made this day a memorable one, " says Ms. Martin. “Thanks to the generosity of everyone who took part in The Drive, we will be able to support important projects for the Dumont UHC and keep ensuring the best possible experience for patients and their loved ones.”
After leaving Lounsbury Chevrolet in Moncton, participants drove to the Escuminac Wharf, where they learned about the tragic disaster of 1959, and how it impacted the small community. Afterward, participants followed along the Acadian Coastal Drive before ending the day at the Arches of St. George for a small gathering.
"As a health professional, I am pleased to see the community answer our call once again. Now more than ever, the Dumont UHC needs our help," explained Dr. Luc Boudreau, urologist at the Dumont University Hospital Centre and the co-chair of the organizing committee for The Drive.
The Drive 2021 was sponsored by Lounsbury Chevrolet Moncton, BMW Moncton, and Audi Moncton.
"We are proud to sponsor this fundraising event," said Kendall Underhill, General Manager of Lounsbury Chevrolet Moncton. "The Drive allows us to support important development projects for the health and well-being of our community."
"Thank you to all the participants as well as our generous sponsors who, year after year, support the efforts of the CHU Dumont Foundation, and allow us to carry out our mission to improve patient experience and ensure that they have access to the best possible care," said Sébastien Dupuis, Chair of the Board of Directors of the CHU Dumont Foundation.
The Drive is a fundraising activity for the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre. It appeals to luxury car enthusiasts who have the well-being of their community at heart. It is an opportunity for a group of people with a common interest to drive around together for a full day, while making a few stops along the way at carefully selected locations. The route is kept secret; at each stop, participants are given a map with directions to their next stop. The day wraps up with a social gathering.
