Where do your donations go?
Thanks to the generosity of its many donors, the CHU Dumont Foundation has been able to reinvest more than $50 million in projects that improve patient experience at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre.
Over the years, the Foundation has contributed to countless projects, in whole or in part. Here are a few examples:
Equipment
- MALDI device in the Microbiology Laboratory to identify bacteria almost immediately and select the best antibiotics for treatment.
- Breast tomosynthesis for the Breast Health Centre that allows for early detection of cancer.
- A PhocusRx system to allow pharmacists and technicians to remotely document and validate the preparation of intravenous medications at the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology.
- A Roche Lightcycler 480 PCR device for the rapid and efficient detection of viruses responsible for viral pneumonia.
- A Rifton TRAM device to improve patient transfer and mobility in the physiotherapy department.
- Fetal monitors to monitor pregnancies in the Mother-Child Care Unit.
Patient Experience
- Renovation of two palliative care rooms to create a serene environment better adapted to the needs of patients and their loved ones.
- Construction of a patio to allow geriatrics and palliative care patients to get outside for some fresh air.
- Renovations at the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre to increase accessibility, patient comfort and confidentiality.
- Upgrades to the Mgr. Henri-Cormier Lodge to improve patient comfort.
- Improvements to the Surgical Suite for oncology patients.
Teaching and Research
- Support for the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute’s (ACRI) research activities.
- Expansion of the Healthy Heart program to improve cardiovascular health.
Training
- Implementation of the MOREOB Program to improve patient safety in the obstetrics department.
